Overview: The Event Leader plays a vital role in the continuous development of a supportive, engaging, and enthusiastic volunteer community and with the general community of those who sponsor events, attend events, and adopt from PCR. This position involves both internal and external stakeholders as a representative of PCR. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Event Organization and Communications:   Master the use of Get Connected, post all Events/Opportunities per the standards and timelines agreed upon by the Executive Director and Events Team. 
  • Engagement: Coordinate with staff to promote all events approved by the Event Team, communicate via Get Connected, Facebook, emails, and other social media to solicit volunteers and foster participation.   Communicate to PCR Volunteers in a professional, friendly, and timely matter event details as needed in addition to Get Connected. 
  • Leadership: Motivate and guide fosters and event volunteers, provide clear instructions, and act as a central point of contact for event volunteers. 
  • On-site execution: Oversee the setup, execution, and teardown of events, ensuring all elements are running according to the plan.  Logistics and operations: Coordinate all logistical aspects, including venue layout, equipment, transportation, and staffing. 
  • Partner relationships: Serve as the primary PCR liaison with venue management, other event participants, and other stakeholders, managing expectations and communication throughout the event. 
  • Budget and financial management: Track expenses and ensure the event stays within the allocated budget. 
  • Problem-solving: Quickly address and resolve issues that arise during the event, acting as the main troubleshooter. 
  • Safety and compliance: Ensure the event complies with all relevant legal, insurance, health, and safety standards, including developing contingency plans for emergencies

    Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the mission and values of PetConnect RescuePeople management and communication (oral and written) skills. 
  • Cultural sensitivity and empathy. 
  • Problem-solving abilities. 
  • Technological skills to use volunteer management software (Get Connected). 
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly. 
  • A team-centric attitude. 
  • Dedication to continuous learning.
